Tivoli Forgotten


The Tivoli, like many of Hamilton’s historic landmarks,
hangs in a Limbo-land of neglect and uncertainty created
initially by an absentee landlord then exacerbated by a lack
of commitment and vision by some municipal politicians.
This once fine example of “campy” neo-classic early 20thc.
theater architecture now cower behind plywood hoardings
as does its neighbor the Lister block and numerous non-descript
commercial buildings on James St. North.
